55 Bistro Bar At Sea Trail Golf Resort & Sunset Slice

55 Bistro Bar At Sea Trail Golf Resort & Sunset Slice American restaurant

Overview

Walking into 55 Bistro Bar At Sea Trail Golf Resort & Sunset Slice feels like stepping into the living room of Sunset Beach’s food scene, where locals, golfers, and travelers all seem to agree they’ve found a reliable place to eat well and unwind. Located at 75 Clubhouse Rd, Sunset Beach, NC 28468, United States, this spot blends casual comfort with a surprisingly thoughtful menu, all set against the relaxed rhythm of a coastal golf resort.

I first stopped by after a long afternoon walking the greens at Sea Trail Golf Resort, and the timing couldn’t have been better. The bistro side offers an easygoing bar atmosphere, while Sunset Slice delivers exactly what the name promises: satisfying pizza that doesn’t try too hard to be trendy. It’s the kind of place where you can order a craft beer, glance at the sunset, and not feel rushed out the door.

The menu covers a wide range without feeling scattered. You’ll find classic American bistro dishes, fresh salads, seafood options common to coastal North Carolina, and hand-tossed pizzas that have built a loyal following. One server explained their pizza dough is made fresh and rested daily, which lines up with what food science research from organizations like the American Institute of Baking says about fermentation improving flavor and texture. You can taste that extra care in every bite. The pepperoni slice I had was crisp on the edges, chewy in the center, and balanced enough that I didn’t feel weighed down afterward.

What stands out most is consistency. In reviews from repeat guests and locals, the same words keep popping up: friendly service, solid portions, and reliable quality. That reliability matters, especially in resort dining, where expectations can swing wildly. According to National Restaurant Association data, diners are far more likely to return to restaurants that deliver predictable quality rather than novelty alone, and this place clearly understands that balance.

The bar area has its own personality. Bartenders are quick to recommend local beers or mix a simple cocktail without overcomplicating things. One evening, I watched a group of golfers celebrating a good round while families shared pizzas nearby, which says a lot about how well the space works for different crowds. The process here is straightforward: order at the table, relax, and enjoy the view. There’s no pretension, just food that fits the moment.

Location plays a big role in its appeal. Being right on the resort makes it convenient for guests, but locals from Sunset Beach and nearby communities treat it as a regular hangout. That mix creates a lively but comfortable atmosphere, something hospitality experts often point to as a marker of a healthy neighborhood restaurant.

It’s worth noting a limitation: during peak golf season or busy summer evenings, wait times can stretch a bit longer than usual. Staff are upfront about it, though, and the bar menu helps make the wait easier. Transparency like that builds trust, and it shows management understands guest expectations.

Overall, this restaurant works because it knows exactly what it is. It doesn’t chase food trends or reinvent classics unnecessarily. Instead, it focuses on good ingredients, a practical menu, and an environment that encourages people to stay awhile. For anyone searching for a dependable place to eat at Sunset Beach, especially near the resort, this spot earns its reputation one meal at a time.

55 Bistro is wonderful, the asparagus is phenomenal. We have eaten and had to go! The burger is a must try with homemade pimento cheese, I must have inhaled it!!! The pizza is really good too. Nice to have so many options. I look forward to having a salad as it gets warmer. Bartenders are very personable and eager to find something you like.

My husband and I met my sister and brother-in-law here today to watch some Sunday football. Go Washington Commanders! We had an excellent server, Jennifer! She was very friendly, knowledgeable, attentive and efficient! In fact, the whole staff was very nice and made us feel welcome. Food was good too! I had the fish tacos…highly recommend! Great sports bar! There are 4 spacious rooms and every game was on. Super nice atmosphere! Will definitely be back! Thanks for taking this picture of us, Jennifer! We love it!
